The Little Beast!

This is my solid body Epiphone Mandbird VIII. Lately, this has been my favoritest instrument to play. I have always wanted to play mandolin, so I bought several of them and started learning to play them a bit. This very instrument can be hard on some of my contributions to the Frappe Dreamgate Klangpool and Electric Tiger. I absolutely love the brutality and response of this thing.

Was it tough to learn?

I see mandos in music stores all the time and think of picking one up.

If you want to hear something inspirational with regard to mandolin, listen to anything by Srinivas. This guy's technique and application of the instrument to South Indian / Carnatic music is fantastic.

The mando is tuned the same way as violin, in 5ths, so that takes some adjustment if you're used to guitar tuning. However, you need callouses of steel for these things - they like to eat fingertips.
