Niewe Muziek van Woden

Yep, it's been a while since I have added anything to this blog. Since then I've been somewhat preoccupied with systemic medical treatment. I won't go into details, but that and some other things contribute to taking time away from updating blogs. In that time, I got started on newer solo musical projects while the Tiger appears to be sleeping. You can check my solo material at http://www.indiehitz.net/html/bands/197/audio.php. While you're there, be sure to check Holley Hall, Jimi Pocius and Alderman as well as my stuff (and other Indiehitz.net artists) and check out my movie "Woden Typeth" at http://www.indiehitz.net/html/bands/197/video.php. I've been making ambient movies to go with some of my music for a while now. It goes well with my inclination to paint abstracts and surrealism.

wai morfiyn shud biy liygel (translation)

I decided to write this using a phonetic alphabet designed for use with English which requires no diacritical marks but is entirely phonetic. I know, it looks like a foreign language, but it is in fact English like I said. This image is morphed from an actual bone scan that was done after I spent a day in the hospital after having been admitted for pain. Toradol didn't work, nor did IV-morphine, but intramuscular morphine killed the pain. I never had morphine before. It's way better than iboprophen.

Woden ist zurück!

Ich bin! Und Frappe Dreamgate schöpft was neues!

We're back at it folks. This has been a troublesome sommer. I got hit in the ass end in traffic on my way to see a friend play the blues and jazz. Jazz is definitely dangerous, but all of the participants in the accident were very nice - the girl who hit me, the cop who showed up, her boyfriend who gave us a ride home later... no one was hurt, but this precipitated having to find another climate warming machine. Then I was ill with vile lung infection followed by evil allergy activity. Thank God for chicken soup with garlic and pharmaceuticals. Then I got laid off, which has caused a delay in Frappe Dreamgate and Electric Tiger CD production. Q#!#$%">Y?^5'p[9ou0p[xd'pt yi~!@!@! But the Tiger continues to stalk and more will forthcoming. Our Dian Hu CD has surpassed our other CDs in digital download sales. Learn Chinese while you wait...

Hidden Faces

Can you find the two faces in this acrylic on canvas painting? They were completely unintended and unimagined when I painted this. Who knows who and what else might lurk therein?

Mond ueber Ptown

This is the moon over Provincetown MA at sunset. Ich bin kein Profifotograf, aber dieses Bild sieht gut aus. I took this one - it was very cold out - from about 2-3 meters above sea level. Ptown is rather desolate in winter, which is why I like it. Die Kaelte war mir auch angenehm. In the bottom of the picture is the marsh - without bugs. Ik heb het graag naar Provincetown te verhuizen. The only problem with Ptown is that they don't know about Frappe Dream Gate and Electric Tiger. Ich wuenschte, dass wir dort laenger haetten bleiben koennen.

Flourescent Saxophone

This is a saxophone in acrylic flourescent on stretched canvas 16x20 inches. (the photograph itself is kinda lame.) I painted it in part because I was working in a music store at the time learning how to repair saxophones and other horns. The guys I worked with were avid jazz fans and both of them played saxophones a lot better than I ever did. Consequently, I heard a lot of horn music while I worked there. When they found that I played basses and guitars, they put me charge of tuning and setting up the instruments, which is how I came start playing mandolin in earnest. In an unintended sense, this painting is kind of a tribute to them and their generally enjoyable company.

noch ein Gemaelde

This is another painting I did severals moons ago. I painted this one with a palette knife and acrylic and flourescent acrylic paint on stretched canvas when I was unemployed. This biggest problem I have with painting are art nazis who think that art should have rules and a general lack of customers. This painting took about an hour to do and it remains one of my favorites.

Electric Spark In A Dry Forest

This is an excerpt from the most recent Electric Tiger release Dian Hu (Electric Tiger in Chinese), a piece entitled Electric Spark In A Dry Forest. There are more excerpts on the Electric Tiger website for those are interested. Sorry about the shortness of the things, but my concerns when I made them were the problems of bandwith and download time. So I opted to give a reasonable sample that could be downloaded relatively easy over a simple telephone dialup line onto a less than optimal machine. Dian Hu was a definite pleasure to make and it was shortly after we released it that Ticharu manifested in cyberspace unto me.

The Little Beast!

This is my solid body Epiphone Mandbird VIII. Lately, this has been my favoritest instrument to play. I have always wanted to play mandolin, so I bought several of them and started learning to play them a bit. This very instrument can be hard on some of my contributions to the Frappe Dreamgate Klangpool and Electric Tiger. I absolutely love the brutality and response of this thing.

Zymosis

Got a lyrik idea fermenting (zymosis)... It's going to take a while, but it coming. Creative processes are like that sometimes. This one'll be good - it's about SPAM.
